greenhouse | building | grow your ownA greenhouse offers a way to extend the growing season and to grow fruits and vegetables which cannot cope with the British climate. Unfortunately greenhouses can be expensive to buy and vulnerable to vandalism. But do not worry - it is possible to build your own greenhouse using recycled old plastic bottles.
Plastic Bottle Greehouse
A plastic bottle greenhouse is built using some timber, garden canes, and around 1,500 old two litre plastic bottles. The tops and bottoms of the bottles are cut off, and then bottles are stacked inside one another (over a garden cane) to make long tubes. These long tubes can then be fixed to the simple wooden frame of the greenhouse to make the greenhouse walls, and roof.
With the number of bottles required, and the amount of work involved, this is an ideal project for schools and for other groups of young people.
